Good news for the people of Sundargarh district. The National Medical Commission has granted statutory approval for MBBS courses in the new Government Medical College at Shankara, Sundargarh. This approval has been received for 100 seats. The commission has written a letter to the medical college authorities to give permission for teaching from the academic year 2022-23.
With this much-awaited, a state-of-the-art medical college is about to become functional in Sundargarh district. This will fulfill the vision of the state government to spread medical education in different parts of the state, especially in tribal areas.
Health care in Sundargarh district will reach a new level with the establishment of medical colleges. The high-quality human resources employed in this state-of-the-art medical institute and the state-of-the-art equipment for training and treatment will surely attract students globally,” said Parag Harshad Gavali, district governor of Sundargarh.
A superspecial hospital with 6 floors and 500 beds has been built along with this medical college. It has the required number of ICU beds, various state-of-the-art medical tests, state-of-the-art operation theater and its own oxygen plant. In the coming days Sundargarh will become a major attraction for medical education as well as play a leading role in providing medical services in Western Odisha.
