The idea of making Hanuman Vatika as a tourist destination in the steel city of Rourkela was conceived in 1992. Since then its construction has started. In an area of about 13 acres, a plan was made to make the main temples of the country in the same structure and give the opportunity to the devotees to worship the deities, as well as to provide all kinds of facilities to the tourists here. With the efforts of founder former Union Minister Dilip Rai, Trustee RP Gupta, Nihar Rai, Gauri Shankar Agarwal, Nandu Agarwal and others, the work of giving it a grand look started here. The world’s tallest 74 feet 9 inch statue was built here. It was unveiled on 23 February 1994 by Kaliga Veer Biju Patnaik, the creator of modern Odisha. However, now this statue has lost the status of the tallest statue.
