Four MoUs inked with reputed institutions for better delivery of health care services

 The State government today inked as many as four MoUs with institutions of national repute for better delivery of healthcare services in Odisha.

The MoUs were signed in the presence of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik. The partnering agencies include M/S Global Healthcare Systems Private Limited, Kolkata; Centre for Stem Cell Research, Christian Medical College, Vellore; Narayana Hrudayalaya and LV Prasad Eye Institute, Bhubaneswar.

M/S Global Health Care Systems Pvt Ltd, Kolkata joined hands with the State government for implementation of digital dispensary project in 14 locations of Nabarangpur district in the first phase. The locations are Badamasigan, Benora, Binjhilli, Majhihdhanua, Kaudola, Dhodipani, Ghodakhunta, Jhadbandhguda, Kosakonga, Sanabarali, Badatemra, Chakalapadar, Telonadigam, and Manchagram. This programme will be extended to another 11 locations of Nabarangpur district based on the outcome. The digital dispensary centres will function as OPD with virtual consultation with doctors through video and facility for basic laboratory test and medication dispensing and delivering quality primary healthcare free of cost to patients. The State government has made an allocation of Rs 4 crore per annum for the project.

The second MoU was signed with Centre for Stem Cell Research, Christian Medical College, Vellore for better detection and treatment of Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Anaemia. This will help reduce major Haemoglobinopathy disorders through screening, counseling, pre-natal diagnosis with appropriate technology and possible curative options.

In order to provide faster and better access to children detected with different heart diseases, the State government has signed an MoU with Narayana Hrudayalaya. It  is expected that through this MoU, children suffering from Congenital Heart Disease and Rheumatic Heart Disease can receive required surgery through Narayan Hrudayalaya on a sustained basis. Signing of MoU with LV Prasad Eye Institute, Bhubaneswar will be helpful in providing specialized care to needy children for treatment of congenital cataract and Retinopathy of Prematurity.

The MoU signing ceremony was attended among others by the Members of the Council of Ministers and senior officers.
