PM Modi’s vision to make Odisha gateway of development: Pradhan




 As per Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision, Odisha will be the gateway of development in the East while Bhubaneswar will be focal point of development in the State, said Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan here today.

Speaking at the occasion of inauguration of second entry gate of Bhubaneswar railway station, Pradhan informed that the Civil Aviation Ministry has submitted a proposal to the State government for allotment of land for a second airport in Bhubaneswar. “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has special plans for expansion of National Highways, better air connectivity, development of railways in Odisha and Bhubaneswar will be its focal point. There is a need to convert Bhubaneswar into an International City,” said Pradhan.  He further stated that until efforts are taken to develop areas in Kakatpur, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Tangi, Choudwar, new economic progress is Odisha cannot be achieved.

The BJP government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has allotted funds for development of railway projects in Odisha which were neglected by previous governments at the Centre, he stated. “It is after a long time that focus of railways is now on Odisha and the State government needs to cooperate in speeding up the pending projects here”, the minister added. “There are plans to come up with a foot over bridge worth Rs 6 crore at Bhubaneswar railway station and two new ring roads,” Pradhan stated.

Earlier, Passenger amenities works at Bhubaneswar and Sakhigopal railway stations including Bhubaneswar station’s second entry and station building, new booking office with reserved and unreserved ticketing system at platform-6 side were dedicated to the public today by Pradhan and Union Minister of State for Railways Rajen Gohain at a function held at Bhubaneswar Railway Station. The new booking office with reserved and unreserved ticketing system at Sakhigopal railway station was also dedicated to the public through video conferencing from Bhubaneswar, on this occasion.

Pradhan praised Railways for infrastructural development of this region and urged to speed-up the projects by continuous review of Railway Board.  Praising the performance of East Coast Railway for the development of Railways in this region, Gohain said that fund for the projects in this region will not be a constraint. Railway Ministry will provide full support for infrastructural development. Gohain stated that the on-going projects in this region will be completed in due course as per the target date. He also urged State government to co-operate with Railways by providing land so that ongoing projects will be completed at the earliest.

The new station building at Platform no 6 of Bhubaneswar station was completed recently at a cost of Rs. 1.97 crore having facilities like Booking Counter cum Lobby, Second Class Waiting Hall, Upper Class Waiting Hall, Food Plaza, TCI Office, Toilets for Divyang Passengers, Pay & Use Toilets and Circulating area with Barricade. Similarly, the new station building at Sakhigopal station has been completed at a cost of Rs. 1.55 crore having facilities like Booking Counter-cum-Lobby, Second Class Waiting Hall, Toilets for Ladies & Gents, Circulating area and Approach Road.

Earlier, Umesh Singh, General Manager, East Coast Railway welcomed the guests and informed about the performance of East Coast Railway.
