TMC asks NHAI to expedite under-pass construction at Sikharpur, Balikuda

The Traffic Management Committee (TMC) has asked National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) to secure early approval of tender in respect of construction of Vehicle Under-pass (VUP) at Sikharpur and Balikuda.

The direction came after a threadbare discussion in TMC meeting today.

Sources said, it was decided to construct the two VUPs to streamline traffic system long ago.

The TMC has also directed to remove the traffic post at Sikharpur crossing and reinstall a quality Post with protective cement barrier and lighting facility within seven days.

Besides, the TMC has also directed NHAI to install signage/blinkering light/traffic signal lights on different intersection points as per the requirement on the road and also the IRC norm.

In response, the local NHAI has assured to make Zebra crossing at Balikuda Traffic Signal Post within seven days and to make ready the up-ramp connecting Manimandir Chhak road within four months.

It has also assured to complete the service road from Dhakulai to Pratap Nagari within two months.

DCP Akhilesvar Singh, Cuttack Traffic ACP PK Dalai, CMC’s Additional Standing Counsel Transport Prasant Kumar Nayak attended the meeting chaired by Commissioner of Police Y.B. Khurania.
