OHRC seeks report from DCP over DAV student’s suicide

DCP Satyabrata Bhoi was today directed to submit the probe report on death of a DAV management student Tanaya Banerjee by the Odisha Human Rights Commission (OHRC) within three weeks.

The rights body has fixed December 26 for next hearing of the case. Earlier on Wednesday, the Commissionerate Police had recorded the statements of parents of Tanya Banerjee. Tanya’s mother alleged physical and mental torture inflicted by a few seniors forced her daughter to commit suicide and demanded strong action against the persons responsible for her death.

Besides, the family members further alleged that police are not expediting the probe process since one of the college girls interrogated in this connection belongs to an influential family.
