BJP alleges political intent behind KB Singh’s removal as DGP

The State unit of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today alleged that there is a political motive behind the removal of former Odisha DGP Kunwar Brajesh Singh from his post.

According to BJP Spokesperson Sajjan Sharma, BJD supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik removed Singh from the post of the top cop of the State much ahead of the completion of his tenure keeping the urban elections in Odisha in mind. “Naveen has changed four DGPs during his 17-years’ tenure as per his own wish”, Sharma added. Singh, who had taken charge of the DGP post on November 8, 2015 is slated to superannuate on May, 2019.

The 1985 batch IPS officer will now take over as the Chairman and managing director (CMD) of Odisha State Road Transport Corporation (OSRTC). The State government appointed Director General of the State Vigilance Dr. Rajendra Prasad Sharma as the new DGP of Odisha yesterday. He assumed office this morning.

From asking his party men to ‘live a simple life and serve the people’ to taunting the BJP for its ‘crocodile tears’, Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik has not only become politically invincible, he seems to be so in the coming years too.
