CS advises IIITB to set up road map for next level of quality, excellence




 Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi today advised the Director and faculty members of International Institute of Information Technology, Bhubaneswar (IIITB) to set the road map for next higher level of quality and excellence.

Chairing the Board of Governors meeting of the institute here today, Padhi stressed the need to focus and invest on attracting bright students and faculties to IITB. The chief secretary directed the institute to conduct security audit regularly at least twice a year and protect the websites from possible hacking.

Chairman of Odisha Skill Development Authority Subroto Bagchi   said, “The technology message of IIITB needs to flow from its own worldview”. He added that IIITB must scale up its activities to occupy a position in the world of technology and see that technology for future flows out from its laboratory. He advised to develop its campus and   ecosystem to a place of pride visit by the IT champions and world luminaries.   Bagchi said the authorities of the institute have said that IIITB would expand its activities to the areas of incubation and entrepreneurship in coming years.   Its new road map would be prepared within 3 to 6 months with inputs from external agencies, professional bodies and institutes. The institute would work as software and website security auditor of various government departments.

Review showed that the foundation stone of the IIITB as a government institute was laid in 2006; and, its first M Tech programme started in 2008. The institute got university status in the year 2014. Presently, the institute is imparting B Tech programme in five disciplines with intake capacity of 300 per batch, M Tech programme in two disciplines with intake capacity of 43 students per batch and Doctoral Programme with intake capacity of 15 per batch.

The State government is providing scholarship to 10 research fellows registered for doctoral programme. As of now, more than 1,300 pass outs from the university have proved their worth in the fields of IT, innovation  and entrepreneurship. The institute has achieved 100 pc placement by making the students industry fit and having engaged relationship with recruiters. The University has established e-learning studio and virtual laboratory. The university has also achieved operational self sufficiency in financial matters. It has enhanced its revenue through consultancy, special academic programme and clientele service. International Institute of Information Technology, Bhubaneswar (IIITB) has achieved operational proficiency by ensuring 100 pc placement of its pass outs in institutions, organizations and multi-national companies of global repute over last years.
