State govt to regularize 18k Gana Sikshaks




 State government is understood to have decided to regularize the services of nearly 18,000 trained and eligible Gana Sikshaks.

According to sources in the School & Mass Education Department has decided to regularize a total 18,414 teachers after their eight years of appointment as per a decision taken by the Government last year.

A notification of the Department said services of a total 18,414 of Gana Sikshaks will be regularized.

The sources said the Director of Elementary Education has since forwarded the list of Gana Sikshaks, who have fulfilled all the criteria outlined in the Department’s resolution.

The Department has directed all the District Project Co-ordinators to display the list of eligible Gana Sikshaks in the office notice boards and seek any objection from the stakeholders by September 22.

The objections, the sources said, received in this regard will be scrutinized by the District Project Co-ordinators for a decision to  be taken as per the S&ME department resolution dated on July 25 last year.

Any changes in the list will be sent to the department through the Director of Elementary Education by September 25, the notification said.

Notably, the highest number of Gana Sikshaks—1619- will be regularized in Mayurbhanj district followed by 1,502 in Sundergarh, 1,309 in Kalahandi, 1,238 in Balasore, 737 in Nabarangpur, 736 Balangir, 680 Rayagada, 657 in Sambalpur, 634 in Bargarh, 633 in Koraput, 623 in Bhadrak, 609 in Nuapada and 605 in Ganjam.

Only 197 Gana Sikhaks will be regularized in Subarnapur district, the sources added.
