BJD supports CMO in Panda-Jogi episode

BJD today came strongly today in support of the Chief Minister’s office saying it was wrong to drag the CMO into the Baijyant Panda, Ajit Jogi episode.

While Finance Minister Sashibhusan Behera, without naming either any officer of the CMO or the MP, said it was not appropriate to drag the office of the Chief Minister into the controversy, BJP spokesperson Sameer Ranjan Das indirectly advised Baijayant to seek a clarification from the person he suspected to be behind the issue.

Even as the controversy remained live on Friday after Panda’s office yesterday hinted about a ‘non-odia’ officer in CMO to have hatched a conspiracy to malign him, former Chhatisgarh Chief Minister Ajit Jogi reiterated his allegation demanding a thorough probe into Panda-Chidambaram business link.

Notably, Jogi had on Thursday alleged that Chidambaram had helped Panda in the waiver of Rs 2300 crore loan when he was Union Finance Minister as he had business links with Panda-owned Indian Metals and Ferro Alloys Limited.

Chidambaram’s wife Nalini too had shares in Ortel Communication – an enterprise floated by Panda’s family, he had alleged.

But the office of Panda had yesterday stoutly denied any link the MP’s companies had with Chidambaram barring that he acted as the companies’ lawyer in some litigations.

From asking his party men to ‘live a simple life and serve the people’ to taunting the BJP for its ‘crocodile tears’, Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik has not only become politically invincible, he seems to be so in the coming years too.
