OPA seeks apology over DGP Singh’s pic as martyr in Tamil movie

The Odisha Police Association (OPA) has sought an apology from the producer and director of a Tamil film for projecting Odisha Police Director General Kunwar Brajesh Singh as a martyr in a scene.

The Association threatened to move court if needed. In a scene from the movie, ACP Shiva, the lead character, is seen standing in front of a wall with the pictures of several upright police officers who sacrificed their lives for the country. Singh’s photograph is also seen on the wall.
However, Singh said he will draw the attention of the film’s director and producer towards the faux pas. “Good films are good for the society. It is a privilege to be a martyr for the country. But, filmmakers should have been careful while using the photographs. I am alive. Perhaps the filmmakers downloaded the picture from the internet by mistake”, he said.
OPA president Satyajit Mishra dubbed the faux pas as a serious issue and sought apology from the movie’s producer and director.
