SLSWCA clears fresh investments in State worth Rs 1,188 crore




 Fresh investments worth Rs 1,188 crore were today sanctioned by the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA, said Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi.

Chairing a meeting of SLSWCA here today, Padhi said investments worth Rs 650 crore has sanctioned from Emami Paper Mills Limited, Rs 430 crore from Ambuja Cements Limited and Rs 108 crore from Surya Foods and Agro Limited. He said with the approval from today’s SLSWCA, Emami Paper Mills will expand their multi-layer coated board manufacturing plant at Balgopalpur industrial estate in Balasore. The company had started its paper manufacturing unit and the estate in 1982 and since then it has regularly expanded its operations in the State by setting up manufacturing of newsprint, paper board project based on waste paper. The company has also set up a 10.50 MW c0-generation power plant in 2015. “With the expansion plans, Emami Paper Mills is expected to generate around 1,750 direct and indirect employment opportunities”, he said.

The chief secretary said the proposal of Ambuja Cements Limited to set up a 1.5 MTPA cement grinding unit at Industrial Growth Centre, Jharsuguda was approved by SLSWCA today. He informed that the proposed facility will be spread across 125 acres and add to the company’s existing portfolio of five integrated cement manufacturing plants and eight cement grinding units across the country. Padhi said the company’s proposed project in the State is expected to generate around 300 direct and indirect job opportunities.

Similarly, as per the proposal by Surya Foods and Agro Limited, which was approved by SLSWCA today, the company will set up a biscuit manufacturing unit of 60,000 TPA at Khordha Food Park, said the chief secretary. He informed that, marketed under the brand name ‘Priya Gold’, SFAL is a multi-product food processing company having manufacturing facilities in Greater Noida, Lucknow and Surat and a capacity of 1.8 TPA through its existing plants. “The proposed project is expected to generate around 667 employment opportunities”, he said.

Padhi said Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has set a Vision 2025 of attracting investments worth Rs 2.5 lakh crore in the focus sectors identified by the State and create employment opportunities for 30 lakh citizens. Principal Secretary, State Industries department said, “The State’s Business Reforms Program and the development of world-class infrastructure have received extremely positive feedback from investors across the country as it has been successful in create the ideal business eco-system for various sectors to flourish in the State”.

He stated that the central inspection framework for industries and integration of business related services with eBiz online platform is one such practice which has given a serious boost to the industrial environment in the State. “Additionally, a GIS-based land bank system called the GO iPLUS has been highly appreciated by the investors as it provides all the required details related to the availability of land, existing industries, raw materials and finished products available”, Chopra informed.

He added that the State is focusing on rapid on-ground implementation of approved projects in the next quarter. “Groundbreaking and inauguration of as many as 10 industrial projects will be done in 10 industrial projects in various districts of the State”, the official said. Chopra said in the past three years, the SLSWCA in the State has approved as many as 102 projects with investments worth Rs 1,67,284.63 crore and an employment potential of 1,12,532 jobs. He added that the State is committed to approve ‘Green’ category projects within 15 days and ‘Other’ category projects within 30 days. “Post the amendment of Odisha Industries Facilitation Act (Rules), the average time taken for disposal of application by the SLSWCA has been brought down to just 20 days making Odisha a leader in single window clearance procedures”, the Principal Secretary said.
