Baijayant slams own party again, this time over meet invite

Biju Janata Dal’s Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda’s love for remaining in controversy came to fore yet again today over an invite to the ruling party’s executive meeting in Cuttack.

Even as BJD”s Cuttack district president Pratap Jena said panda was invited to the meet, the MP’s political secretary denied it. Later, Panda took up his favourite weapon, Twitter and stated that he was never invited to the meet. “False. Not invited. This is petty, low level politicking by vested interests who r manipulating the party. Hope the founder sees through it”, he said on his Twitter handle. The MP yet again asked party supremo and Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik to look into the matter.

Panda’s knack for dragging Patnaik into any controversy has become evident. The MP did not stop and in another tweet said, “To be fair, petty tough it is, must admit it is an improvement on throwing stones & eggs, no ?” clearly referring to the incident in Mahanga recently where he was allegedly attacked with eggs and stones by his own party’s workers. Interestingly, Panda has been making such statements with alarming regularity and his Twitter handle has something or the other against his own party on a daily basis.

Précis 2017
From asking his party men to ‘live a simple life and serve the people’ to taunting the BJP for its ‘crocodile tears’, Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik has not only become politically invincible, he seems to be so in the coming years too.
