Odisha selected for DSSS in education sector by NITI Aayog

Odisha has been selected for Development Support Service for States (DSSS) towards transforming the education sectors through a challenge process by NITI Aayog.

Officials of State School and Mass Education Department said Odisha participated along with 14 other states and selected for the implementation of the DSSS programme for three years. The proposal was successfully presented before NITI Aayog at New Delhi in June 10 by the Commissioner-cum-Secretary, School and Mass Education Department.

The objectives of the programme include providing quality education which is accessible and equitable, providing basic infrastructure in schools, introducing ICT both as a subject and a pedagogic tool, creating an enabling environment with community involvement and participation, strengthening human resources through development planning, restructuring of cadre, etc. The programme will also provide high visibility to chosen states due to the commitment of NITI Aayog to showcase them as model states for school education transformation. These states will become world class with the potential to be ranked high on learning outcome metrics both as per national and international standards.

The selected states will be provided support by the consortium of the Boston Consulting Group and Piramal School of Leadership towards institutional changes and developing leadership, sources said.
