Naxal leader alleges Chinnabai tortured, killed by police

Naxal leader Punam Chand today demanded a probe into Maoist commander Chinnabai’s death.

Chand, in a letter to media alleged that Chinnabai was tortured by Malkangiri police in custody for five days following the latter’s surrender. Chand said the Maoist commander was tortured in custody for five days and then killed in Kapauti forest on June 3.  In a four-page letter, Chand, the CPI(Maoist) Malkangiri Division Secretary, stated Malkangiri SP Mitrabhanu Mahapatra along with former Maoist leader Sukadeba inflicted torture on Chinnabai alias Nagesh Rao after he laid down arms.

The letter further mentioned Chinnabai was murdered by the district police in the forest on Ganjeimala hills and the encounter claim made by the cops is false. Meanwhile, Malkangiri SP said Chand’s claim is a regular affair and there is nothing new in it.

Meanwhile, Maoist couple of the Baipariguda Dalam, Surya and Malati, with reward of Rs nine lakh on their heads, surrendered before the Malkangiri SP at the district police headquarters today.
