State Government earmarks Rs 2278.14 crore APIP for ICDS during current fiscal

 State government today earmarked Rs 2278.14 crore towards Annual Programme Implementation Plan (APIP) pushing it in to Integrated Child Development Programme during the current financial year.

This was approved in the State Empowered Programme Committee meeting chaired by Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi here.

Padhi directed the officials to strengthen the internal inspection and reporting mechanism to ensure cent per cent actual flow of befits to the targeted group.

The issues relating to improving the quality of Take Home Ration (THR), revised guidelines for engaging SHGs for THR production, construction new Anganwadi Center (AWCs), construction of AWC buildings in convergence with MGNREGS, availability of basic facilities at AWC, strategies for improvement of nutrition etc were discussed in the meeting, said sources.

Director Social Welfare D Prasant Reddy informed that presently 43.52 lakh beneficiaries are being supplied supplementary nutrition food each day in 72,452 AWCs of the State spread over 338 project areas, the sources added.

According to them, Out of the total beneficiaries, around 18.83 lakhs are the children between 6 months to 3 years of age, 17.33 lakh between 3 to 6 years and around 7.36 lakh pregnant and lactating women.

The APIP of Rs.2278.14 crore approved for the year 2017-18 would be implemented with fund support from both the Central and State Government, the sources said.

The funding ratio for SNP programme would be 50:50 and the funding ratio for ICDS general would be 60:40 respectively.

Notably, State Government has been pushing forward convergence of the construction of AWCs with MGNRGES, they said adding, there has been remarkable growth in this over the last two years.

In the year 2015-26 around 1121 AWC buildings were constructed with this convergence which grew up to additional 2307 building during the year 2016-17 and a target was set to construct own buildings for 24481 AWCs by the year 2018-19.

A year wise break up was also worked out to expedite the execution, officials said.

The Chief Secretary directed the officials to complete the buildings under construction with toilet and water facilities and make those functional for the children during the current year.

Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan, Principal Secretary Finance Tuhin Kanta Pandey, Secretary Health & Family Welfare Pramod Kumar Meherda, Secretary Panchayati Raj Deo Ranjan Kumar Singh along with other senior officers from concerned departments participated in the discussions.
