CM inaugurates free cancer treatment facility at district HQs

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today inaugurated free cancer treatment facility at District Headquarters Hospitals across the State.

The State government will bear the expenses from its own funds, said officials.

Notably, the facility was earlier available at 13 DHHs in State. Eminent Oncologist Dr Dinesh Pendharkar has been roped in to supervise the scheme, the officials said.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said the launching of this facility at DHHs across State will lessen the loan on Acharya Harihar Cancer Institute at Cuttack. He said people of the tribal and remote areas will benefit most due to the launch of this facility.
On the occasion the Chief Minister announced setting up of radio therapy units at a cost of Rs 30-40 crore each at Nabarangpur, Jharsuguda, Angul, and Bhubaneswar in the next two years.
“Efforts will also be made to diagnose and treat dreaded cancer right from the initial stage,” he added.
Patnaik also interacted with several patients and their relatives in Sundergarh, Balasore, Koraput, Nabarangpur and Bargarh through videoconferencing and enquired about their treatment. He also unveiled the Logo and Guideline booklets of the District Cancer Treatment Centres.

From asking his party men to ‘live a simple life and serve the people’ to taunting the BJP for its ‘crocodile tears’, Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik has not only become politically invincible, he seems to be so in the coming years too.
