CS for 95 pc Aadhaar enrolment in State




 Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi today directed district authorities to ensure at least 95pc Aadhaar enrolment in their respective States besides expediting under construction drinking water projects and monitoring the status of the completed ones.

        The Chief Secretary, who reviewed the priority sector projects of government with the district magistrates and senior officials through videoconferencing at State Secretariat, also asked them to take necessary steps to expedite rural housing, rural electrification, mega lift Irrigation projects and initiate suitable steps for the Kharif crops.

        According to sources, the Chief Secretary and Development Commissioner R Balakrishnan also directed the officials to identify 10 locations in their districts to install solar powered pump sets, especially in areas which lack electricity.

        Padhi asked the officials to maintain transparency in the construction of houses for rural and urban poor, not to delay disbursement of funds for these houses and accord priority to the beneficiaries, the sources added.

        Balakrishnan, who described the present time as the most important period of the ensuing Kharif season asked the district magistrates to ensure distribution of fertilizers and seeds to the farmers in consultation with field staff.

        He asked them to remove all hurdles in this regard.

        Notably, nearly 89 per cent of people in State have since been provided with Aadhaar numbers. A total 3.97 crore of State’s population has been covered under Aadhaar enrolment in State.

        Officials said as many as 1000 units have been engaged for Aadhaar enrolment in districts.

        Food Supply and Consumer Welfare Secretary PK Mohapatra stressed cent percent Aadhaar seeding of National Food Security Act beneficiaries otherwise which they will not be entitled to ration from public distribution outlets from July.

        Those who are yet to seed their Aadhaar numbers can do so on the 20th, 21st, and 22nd day of the month at the fair price shops where camps will be organized by the district authorities.

        Notably, 87 per cent of the beneficiaries have got the seeding done, said sources.

        Secretary Energy Hemant Sharma, who participated in the video conferencing, said as many as 2809 of the 3474 villages have been provided electricity.

        Secretary Water Resources PK Jena said as many as 58 major irrigation projects will help irrigate 95,000 hectare land by July.
