Naveen to inaugurate JSPL’s 6 MTPA Angul steel plant

Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik is going to dedicate to the nation on May 27 JSPL’s 6 MTPA steel plant at Angul, the biggest integrated steel plant of the State.

With the completion of this mega project Jindal Steel & Power Ltd (JSPL) is all set to become the fourth largest steel maker in India.

Sources said, this will be the largest Integrated Steel Plant of Odisha with installed capacity of 6 MTPA. With this, JSPL also becomes the first company to complete/achieve this mega steel project as per its commitment in the Memorandum of Understanding with Government of Odisha.
JSPL, despite the challenging time for Steel Industries, have established this state-of-the-art world class Integrated Steel Plant with modern technology, said an expert having knowledge on the development. The Company has already installed 2 MTPA steelmaking capacity at its Angul Steel Complex since 2015 with Coal Gasification – DRI route, which is being used for the first time in the world.
It has added 4 MTPA steelmaking capacity with installation of India’s largest Blast Furnace of 4554 Cubic Meter Size. The Angul steel complex has also 4 MTPA Sinter Plant, 2 MTPA Coke Oven, 3 MTPA Steel Melting Shop, 1.2 MTPA Plate Mill, 1.4 MTPA Bar Mill and one 810 MW Captive Power Plant, said sources in JSPL.
Completion of this mega project demonstrates JSPL’s capability in execution of greenfield projects, said a senior functionary of the steel behemoth. Notably, in 2005, JSPL had signed an MoU with Government of Odisha to build the mega steel plant.

From asking his party men to ‘live a simple life and serve the people’ to taunting the BJP for its ‘crocodile tears’, Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik has not only become politically invincible, he seems to be so in the coming years too.
