Tweet to CMO leads to arrest of three child traffickers in Phulbani




 Three child traffickers were arrested and five minors rescued after a good samaritan alerted the authorities through a tweet to the Chief Minister’s Office.

The good Samaritan, identified as Amit Nanda had tweeted to CMO drawing its immediate attention to the incident. Nanda tweeted @CMO_Odisha - Urgent Attention.. shivom bus. Berhampur to sambalpur. One person escorting 4 minor boys for forced labour probably.

Following this, the CMO retweeted it to Berhampur police owing which police swung into action and Phulbani police rescued the five minors. Besides, three traffickers were also arrested.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s Twitter handle CMO Odisha later tweeted,  @AmitNanda11 State police has rescued the 4 minors from bus & detained 3 persons. Legal action is being taken. Thankful for your alertness & quick action

Notably, the traffickers were en route to Sambalpur when police intercepted the vehicle at Phulbani leading to their arrest yesterday. The accused were taking these children to work in a bread factory in Jharsuguda. The accused have been identified as Badiyanarayan Das from Jhitikabali village under Kabisuryanagar police limits, Bulu Nayak from Juanga village under Dangapur police limits and Santosh Padhi from Nuagada village under Sorada police limits.

The rescued belong to Ganjam district. They are now being kept at a shelter home in Phulbani.
