 Jeypore police plan to implement STV scheme for better traffic control  Puri Jagannath Temple ‘pandas’ to visit shrines for tips on hygiene, good conduct  

Sec 144 promulgated around Srimandir




 The Puri district administration today promulgated section 144 of Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) along the peripheral areas of Sri Jagannath Temple here.

The prohibitory orders which came into force from today would remain effective till June 27. A blanket ban has been imposed on vending and parking around the temple. These areas have also been earmarked as ‘no begging zone, said officials.

The move is meant to free the 12th century temple from squatters. A proposal regarding this was given by the district police earlier.
The surrounding areas of the temple often get overcrowded due to human encroachment. It inconveniences thousands of devotees who visit the temple to pay obeisance to Lord Jagannath.
