Govt assures power to all villages, hamlets across Odisha by 2019




 The State government today set a target to provide electricity to all villages and hamlets by 2019.

Besides, the government assured that there will be no power cuts this year as there is sufficient production. Speaking to the media persons, Energy Minister Prafulla Mallick said: “We will provide electricity to every household across the State by 2019 as there is enough power production to meet the demand.”

The Minister said presently the State needs around 4,300 MW. “If is there any shortage then the government will look for alternative arrangements for uninterrupted power supply”, Mallick added.

Worth mentioning, official data during the last Assembly Session had revealed that around 40 pc families in the State are yet to get electricity connection.
