Student Congress Odisha Unit chief attempts to enter CM’s house, detained

President of the state unit of Student Congress Itish Pradhan along with several of his supporters were today detained while trying to enter inside Naveen Nivas -- Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik’s residence-here to press for a proper investigation into the death of an engineering student Asutosh Mohanty alias Rishi.

Pradhan was demanding a CBI probe into the incident.

He was detained when they tried to force their entry in to the official residence of Patnaik holding photos of Rishi.

“The agitation will continue till fulfilment of our demands,” Pradhan said after police detained.

Notably, Itish has alleged the complicity of Bhubaneswar Mayor Ananta Narayan Jena in the murder as Rishi was believed to be in possession of some incriminating videos against the Mayor, which Jena has vehemently denied.

However, the Bhubaneswar Mayor who is considered close to the Chief Minister was kept on party sidelines for last few months and had stopped issuing party’s press statements sparking speculation that he may face axe following the allegation.

However, the commissionerate police is claiming to be investigating some videos purportedly showing the Mayor in a compromising position with a woman.
