Around 28 projects approved in State under Awas Yojana




 As many as 28 projects in as many municipality areas of the State were approved under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

Chief Secretary Aditya Prasad Padhi who chaired a meeting in this regard today said with the projects getting approved, around 10,600 houses for PMAY beneficiaries will be constructed across the State.

Padhi said two-three types of projects have been approved. The first is called beneficiary laid construction. A person having own land will be encouraged to build a house with financial aid provided by Centre and State government along with the beneficiary’s own contribution. The second project is meant for shifting of the slum dwellers. The third project involves building housing projects where each beneficiary can contribute Rs 1.5 lakh.

G Mathivathanan, Secretary, State Housing and Urban Development, Odisha said, “For the beneficiary laid construction 2,833 houses, for the incentive slum head 1,300 houses and for the affordable housing project 6,462 houses have been approved. It will be sent to the Central government for final sanction and work orders will be given accordingly. For the beneficiary laid construction, per house cost approximately will be Rs three lakh out of which Rs 2 lakh assistance will provided by the government and the rest has to be borne by the beneficiary.”
