CM sanctions revolving fund for SGGs in Bhubaneswar




 The Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today said his government was committed to development of women in the State and has been regularly initiating measures in this regard.

Speaking at function organized at Rabindra Mandap as part of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation’s bid to strengthen the self help group (SHG) movement and empower the women, the Chief Minister also announced a revolving fund of Rs 10,000 to each of the 704 SHGs function in Bhubaneswar area.

Patnaik said the Mission Shakti programme of the State government has proved to be a successful tool in empowering women and strengthening the social and economic status of women in the State.

He claimed the women in State have progressed during the past 17 years and the role of the SHGs is encouraging.

He said his government has initiated several measures to improve the condition of women in State and the government recently set up a Rs 1000 crore fund at one per cent interest for these groups.

He urged the women SHGs to take advantage of the schemes initiated by the government.
