BJP, Congress slams Govt for reply

State BJP and Congress today slammed the State government for its report on farmers’ suicides saying it continued to depend on the officials’ version of any incident.

The reply of the Agriculture Minister in Assembly is unfortunate, said Congress Chief Whip Taraprasad Bahinipati and BJP MLA Ravi Naik.

Bahinipati said, “The reply is not based on facts” while Naik said “it is incorrect.” Meanwhile, State BJP vice president Sameer Mohanty described the State government as ‘inept and insensitive.’

Mohanty told reporters here, “The government continues to trust its officials and has virtually left the administration in their hands.”

Mohanty alleged that the report submitted by government officials who visited Kendpali village in Bargarh district to conduct an on the spot inquiry changed totally by the time it reached the Agriculture Minister.

“Describing the spate of recent suicides by farmers across State result of family quarrel is unfortunate and adding insult to their injuries,” the BJP leader added.

From asking his party men to ‘live a simple life and serve the people’ to taunting the BJP for its ‘crocodile tears’, Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik has not only become politically invincible, he seems to be so in the coming years too.
