Bizman’s son nabbed over wife torture allegation

The Commissionerate Police today arrested Sabyasachi Mishra, son of industrialist Trailokya Mishra in connection with a dowry harassment and wife swapping case lodged by his wife Lopamudra Mishra in May 10 last year.

A team of Mahila police station officials nabbed Sabyasachi from his Kharvela Nagar residence here after the interim protection period granted by the Orissa High Court was over and his bail plea was rejected by the High Court.

Lopamudra had alleged that her husband Sabyasachi had forced her for wife-swapping when they were on their honeymoon trip at Port Blair in 2006. She had further alleged that though she brought the issue to the notice of her father-in-law and mother-in-law, but in vain. Instead, the in-laws started torturing her physically and mentally.

Unable to bear the trauma and finding no remedy, Lopamudra lodged a plaint at the Mahila police station on May 10 last year against Trailokya Mishra, his wife and his son Sabyasachi Mishra.

Orissa High Court had in July last year granted interim protection to Sabyasachi and his family members, sources said.
