CM for more encouragements to MSME entrepreneurs in State

While inaugurating the MSME Trade Fair and Celebration of Entrepreneurship Week-2017, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today advised IDCO to reserve land for MSMEs in all of its industrial estates and develop a land bank exclusively for MSMEs at important growth centres of the state.

Further, he asked the Single Window Committees to ensure that MSMEs are provided with the same facilitation and the ease of approvals as they have been doing for the large industries.

“Today we are celebrating the birth anniversary of the great leader Biju Patnaik. Biju Babu is the original inspiration behind the industrial and entrepreneurship development in Odisha”, he said expressing satisfaction that 250 entrepreneurs in MSME sector and 50 startups were present in the fair to explore the business opportunities in the state. “I am happy to share; more than 2.5 lakh MSME enterprises have been established in the state with a cumulative investment of more than 12,000 crore and are providing employment to over 11 lakh persons. 251 products worth Rs. 661 crore have been approved by the district level single window committees since April 2015. The single window committee should ensure that MSME are provided by the same facilitation and ease of loans as it is doing for larger industries. I wish all the industrial associations, entrepreneurs, startups, awardees and everybody present here all the very best in the entrepreneurial endeavour,” he said.
He stated that with an objective to promote MSME sector and maximise avenues of employment for the youth of the State, the budget provision of the MSME Department for the coming financial year has been increased by more than 48% vis-a-vis the budget provision of the last year. The Chief Minister indicated that the development of ancillary and downstream industries with the help of Central and State PSUs should be accorded priority.
In his address MSME, Public Grievances and Pension Administration Minister Jogendra Behera said, “The state Govt. has prepared road map for the development of MSME and growth of the startup companies. Growth of MSME sector will ensure prosperity of the state as well as employment opportunities.”
Minister Industries said in his address that the role of MSME sector was highly important for the development of the state. “The state Govt. has been giving priority to the development of small scale industries and startups; especially the manufacturing and production based businesses. Huge employment has been generated as of now due to growth of this sector in the state”.
Speaking on the occasion Chairman Odisha Skill Development Authority Subroto Bagchi exhorted all the Startups and Entrepreneurs to excel in their respective fields.
On this occasion, Chief Minister also felicitated 20 boys and girls, who have won the Youth Innovation Award. While four of them were awarded Rs.1 lakh each for developing proto-types, the remaining 16 youths were awarded @ Rs.50,000/- each for working on an innovative idea.
In his address Principal Secretary, MSME LN Gupta said this year's MSME Trade Fair is focused on Startups and in that context a separate seminar on "Mission 1000 Startups" has been organised. He stated that every Startup is an MSME, though every MSME may not be a Startup. Four more seminars on Development of MSME Sector, Potential of Food Processing Sector, Development of Women Entrepreneurship and Credit Mobilisation to MSME Exporters are being organised on the sidelines of MSME Trade Fair during the coming week, he further informed.
More than 250 entrepreneurs of the MSME Sector and 50 Startups are participating in the MSME Trade Fair and Entrepreneurship Week. This year, separate hangers have been kept for the exporters and women entrepreneurs.

Précis 2017
From asking his party men to ‘live a simple life and serve the people’ to taunting the BJP for its ‘crocodile tears’, Chief Minister and BJD supremo Naveen Patnaik has not only become politically invincible, he seems to be so in the coming years too.
