Naveen lauds Aditya Birla Group effort in furthering education

 Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has showered praises on the Aditya Birla Group for choosing Bhubaneswar to set up a school at the outskirt of Bhubaneswar. 

While addressing at the school opening ceremony here earlier today, Patnaik applauded this noble effort of the Aditya Birla Group and said that this addition of ABPS Bhubaneswar shall certainly give a boost to the primary and secondary education of the children of this locality and will provide education to poor children as per the principles of Right to Education.  

“I am really happy that the school has started functioning on the birth anniversary of our legendary leader Biju Patnaik”, said Patnaik. Today Bhubaneswar is the hub of education in eastern India with the establishment of many schools, colleges and institutes, he added.
“Education is an instrument for social change. The destiny of a nation can only be changed by knowledge and education. Quality education is essential to provide our children better future. In the modern world, development of knowledge and skills among children is the key to improvement our human resource potential”, he said adding that Odisha has made paradigm shift in education sector, especially in school education.
The Birla Group is famous and one of the biggest industrial conglomerate in India and the world. This group has contributed to the social development of India since the time of Independence. After Independence it has immensely contributed to education sector by establishing many schools, colleges, technological institutes and other institutes of global excellence. The school in Bhubaneswar is indicative of its continued commitment to education, he said while wishing this institute all success in its endeavours.
The Aditya Birla Group today launched “Aditya Birla Public School” in Bhubaneswar.  Inaugurated by Patnaik, this first of its kind school reflects scale and an ambience that is in harmony with nature.  
Speaking on the occasion, Chairperson of Aditya Birla Centre for Community Initiatives and Rural Development Rajashreeji Birla said the cause of furthering education is in the very DNA of the Birla family.  Setting up world-class schools, has been and continues to be, an ongoing process with the Aditya Birla Group, she said adding that this is the 48th school of the Group.  “The Aditya Birla Public Schools is a not for profit venture of the Aditya Birla Group.  The Group has been intensely engaged in bringing education to the masses for nearly a century”, she added.
In his address Dr Santrupt Misra, Director –HR of Aditya Birla Group said the Aditya Birla Public Schools are a not-for-profit initiatives of the Aditya Birla Group reflecting the thoughts and commitments of our founding fathers including late Ghanshyamdas Birla and late Aditya Bikram Birla. “We are perhaps one of the rarest business organisations in the world that has 1380 school teachers in our pay roll of whom 60 belong to Odisha working in diff parts of India”, he added.
“This particular school is the latest gift to the community of Odisha which we have built at an initial cost of Rs 29.50 crore. The present intake capacity of this school is 600”, he said. 
The Aditya Birla Public School located at Sundarpada Jatni Road in Bhubaneswar, offers holistic education to students from nursery to Grade VII.  Going forward, plans to scale it up to Grade X and beyond, are on the anvil.  
Minister School and Mass Education Devi Prasad Mishra and Minister Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Pradeep Maharathy also graced the occasion.
