State Vigilance registers case against four more Gas Agencies




 State Vigilance today said cases against four gas agencies have been registered in State for various irregularities committed by them.

A release from State Vigilance said here today that following allegations of black marketing of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) cylinders and other irregularities by different Gas Agencies, joint surprise checks were conducted on December 31, January 14, January 16 and January 17 in 10 by the Officers of State Vigilance in various gas agencies of Balasore, Bhadrak, Keonjhar, Angul, Cuttack, Jajpur, Bhubaneswar, Puri, Ganjam and Khurdha districts.

The Vigilance Officers were assisted by the Officers of Civil Supplies Department and Legal Metrology Department at the time of conducting the surprise checks, it said.

“After due verification, Cuttack Vigilance PS case No.02, dt.15.01.2017 was registered. Continuing with further verification, and on availability of prima facie evidence of illegality and irregularities found in respect of their stock position of cylinders and registers/records, criminal cases have been registered today against four agencies while scrutiny of records in respects of other gas agencies is continuing,” the release said.

It said case Under Section 7 of Essential Commodities Act has been registered against Md. Sahabuddin and Nagama Sirin of M/s. Neulpur Indane Gramin Vitrak, Neulpur, Dist.Jajpur, Ajit Kumar Mishra and Babulal Sahoo of Maa Durga Indane Gas, Boinda, Angul, Umesh Chandra Gupta and T Arun Kumar Patra of Modern Living HP Gas Agencies, Balugaon in Khurdha district and Krushna Chandra Das, Secretary, Dasarathi Behera, President and Kishore Kumar Barik, Store Keeper-cum-Junior Salesman, Bhubaneswar Wholesale Cooperative Society- Alaka.

Notably, a case has been registered against Soumedra Pradhan – brother of Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan – owner of Pradhan Gas Services in Handidhua area of Talcher yesterday for irregularities in his agency.
