Mukund, Samsad win PPT Foundation Day Marathon




 Mukund Banra and Samsad Ara Begum emerged champions in the men's and women's category respectively, of the Marathon organised by Paradip Port Trust (PPT) as part of the Port’s Foundation Day celebrations, here today.

Both Mukund and Samsad won cash award of Rs 12,500 each.

In the Men’s category, Yogendra Tiriya and Budra Bisi Nayak secured second and third positions respectively; while in the Women’s category Sobha Nayak and Heera Majhi stood second and third respectively, and received cash prizes of Rs 9,400 and Rs 6,300 each, respectively.

Besides, 21 participants each from men and women category were awarded consolation cash prizes.

As many as 888 participants, including 62 women participated in the Marathon, which was flagged off by PPT Chairman Rinkesh Roy.

The marathon started from Atharbank Square, and culminated at the Gopabandhu Stadium after covering a 12-km route amidst cheers from locals residents, school children and several organizations.

The PPT Chairman gave way prizes to the winners.

PPT Deputy Chairman N Vaiyapuri attended the function as Guest of honour while FA & CAO SK Sahu presided over the function.

Secretary of Gopabandhu Kreeda Sansad Rabi Das proposed the vote of thanks.
