Police confirms black money transactions in SHG members’ accounts




 Police investigation has confirmed about the transaction of black money through Dhan Jan accounts of members of an women Self Help Group (SHG) regarding which they had lodged complaint before Jagatpur police recently.

“As per the preliminary investigation, it appears to be the act of some employees of the concerned finance company in respect of misusing the Dhan Jan accounts with covert intension of converting their black money into white by transacting through Dhan Jan accounts,” said DCP Sanjeev Arora.

The Dhan Jan accounts of the members of Tulasi women SHG were not opened properly as per the guideline. The authorities in State Bank of India (SBI), Gopinathpur Branch, under Salepur block had engaged a non government organization as its authorized agent to open Dhan Jan accounts. The agency however violating the guideline had opened Dhan Jan accounts of the SHG members in SBI’s Customer Service Point at Mahajanpur, Arora told.

“We have already started investigating into that aspect to ascertain the involvement of the agency in misuse of the Dhan Jan account, and we will soon arrest all the persons involved in the act”, Arora informed.

According to reports, as many as 13 women members of Tulasi Self Help Group (SHG) of Padmapur on December 28 had filed FIR in Jagatpur police station about the illegal transaction of lakhs of rupees made after demonetization by unknown persons through their Dhan Jan accounts.

In the FIR, the members of the women Self Help Group had alleged that some unknown persons with an aim to turn black money to white had made 7 to 8 time online transactions, each time amounting Rs.2,500 in their accounts through online money transfer system within the period from November 11 to December 25 without their knowledge in connivance with some unscrupulous bank employees.

The members of Tulasi SHG had also alleged that, alluring them to provide loan, the agents of  Swyam Shree Micro Credit Finance Company, a money lending private company had opened Dhan Jan accounts in their name in Gopinathpur branch SBI’s Customer Service Point at Mahajanpur.
